Disclaimer: New Photos, Details Revealed for Alfonso Cuarón’s Apple TV+ Series With Cate Blanchett

Apple TV+ has shared new photos from Disclaimer, Alfonso Cuarón’s upcoming miniseries starring Cate Blanchett.

Announced in June 2024, Disclaimer will premiere on Apple TV+ this coming October. Written and directed by Cuarón, the miniseries is based on the 2015 novel of the same name by Renée Knight.

The official Apple TV X account shared a handful of new photos from Disclaimer, which can be viewed below:

What do we know about Disclaimer?

“Acclaimed journalist Catherine Ravenscroft (Blanchett) built her reputation revealing the misdeeds and transgressions of others,” the synopsis for the series reads. “When she receives a novel from an unknown author, she is horrified to realize she is now the main character in a story that exposes her darkest secrets. As Catherine races to uncover the writer’s true identity, she is forced to confront her past before it destroys both her own life and her relationships with her husband, Robert (Sacha Baron Cohen), and their son, Nicholas (Kodi Smit-McPhee).”

Speaking to Vanity Fair about Disclaimer, Cuarón said, “It’s as old as humanity. We have an immense facility to create judgments. But there’s a pleasure about it. You can see it nowadays in how easily people jump onto the bandwagon. That is a part of humanity that makes us feel a bit above, that makes us feel a bit more comfortable with ourselves. ‘There’s always someone that is a bit worse than me.’”

Blanchett, meanwhile, said the series deals with “sharp, quick, and lasting judgments.” She added, “Maybe we add our voices to the cacophony for fear of being judged ourselves. We are all the heroes of our own narratives, right? To that end there is much unflattering human behavior depicted in the series.”

She further said of her character, “[She] subconsciously feared her rage would get out of control and so she avoided conflict, avoided standing up for herself or losing her cool with people for fear of her rage exploding. Catherine was to me a person who was misunderstood as being self-contained or stoic, when in fact she was someone who found it difficult to imagine she even had a right to feel anything.”

Disclaimer also stars Kevin Kline, Louis Patridge, Lesley Manville, and HoYeon Jung. The first two episode of the series premiere on October 11, 2024, with new episodes dropping every Friday until November 15, 2024.
