Vought Rising: The Boys Prequel Starring Jensen Ackles Announced

During The Boys’ Comic-Con panel at the 2024 SDCC, The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke has officially confirmed the development of Vought Rising, which is a prequel series about Jensen Ackles‘ Soldier Boy and Aya Cash’s Stormfront/Liberty. This comes ahead of hit Prime Video series’ fifth and final season debut, which currently has no release date attached to it yet.

What to expect from Vought Rising?

Kripke described the Vought Rising as a “lurid pulp saga prequel,” which will take place during 1950s New York. In the original series, Soldier Boy and Stormfront/Liberty were known as two of Vought’s first superheroes, with the latter being the first one to be injected by Compound V. Kripke will once again serve as an executive producer on the project alongisde Paul Grellong.

“We are excited to bring you the next deranged series from the world of The Boys,” Kripke said in a statement (via Variety). “It’s a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought. We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V.”

The Boys is created and executive produced by Supernatural creator Eric Kripke, based on the comic book series created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, The series currently stars Karl Urban, Antony Star, Jack Quaid, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Chace Crawford, Nathan Mitchell, Claudia Doumit, Colby Minifie, Simon Pegg, and Cameron Crovetti.
