Lucy Lawless to Reprise Role of Lucretia in Spartacus: House of Ashur

Lucy Lawless will reprise her role as Lucretia in Spartacus: House of Ashur.

Per Deadline, Lawless returns in a guest-starring role for Starz’s next Spartacus series and will be “instrumental in setting up the ‘what if’ alternate timeline.”

Lawless originated the role in Spartacus: Blood and Sand and reprised it for the prequel series, Spartacus: Gods of the Arena. Lucretia was the wife of Quintus Lentulus Batiatus (John Hannah), the owner of the gladiatorial training school that eventually housed Spartacus (Andy Whitfield).

Lucretia was killed at the end of Spartacus: Blood and Sand after Spartacus led an uprising against House Batiatus. However, Spartacus: House of Ashur follows a different timeline, one where Lucretia survived.

What to Expect in Spartacus: House of Ashur?

Per the series synopsis, “House of Ashur poses the question: What if Ashur hadn’t died on Mount Vesuvius at the end of Spartacus: Vengeance and instead was gifted Batiatus’s Ludus in return for helping to kill Spartacus and end the slave rebellion?”

Nick Tarabay headlines the Spartacus series as Ashur, a former gladiator who became Batiatus’ henchman and bookkeeper after suffering a leg injury in the arena.

Spartacus: House of Ashur also stars Graham McTavish as Korris, Tenika Davis as Achillia, Jamaica Vaughan as Hilara, Ivana Baquero as Messia, Jordi Webber as Tarchon, Claudia Black as Cossutia, India Shaw-Smith as Viridia, and Leigh Gill as Satyrus.

Steven S. DeKnight is the showrunner and executive producer of Spartacus: House of Asher. DeKnight was the creator, writer, and executive producer of Starz’s Spartacus franchise. The series has been described as a “history-bending, erotic, thrilling, roller-coaster experience that builds on everything that made the original series a colossal hit.”

Production on the 10-episode series is underway in New Zealand. Starz has not announced a release date for Spartacus: House of Ashur.
