Eric Roberts Discusses Suits’ Resurgence in Popularity & New Audience

Eric Roberts only appeared in a handful of episodes of the hit legal drama Suits, but even he is happy to see the series gain a second life.

Speaking to ComingSoon, Roberts noted that he’d never been a part of a project that had such a delayed reaction. He joked that after its initial success, he now has young children saying “hi” to him because they recognize him from the show.

“Well, I have never been involved in that kind of delayed reaction and that it was a hit,” said Roberts. “And we got, we got attention both professionally and privately. And then it went away, and then it exploded. And we, and, and, and then these 12-year-old girls were saying hi to me now because “I love you on Suits.” They know nothing about my career, but they just tell me from that show. So I have a whole new audience now. It’s really kind of fun.”

Roberts called Suits one of the “hardest jobs ever”

Despite only being in 9 episodes of the series, Roberts said that being on the show was fun, but very hard due to all the monologues and longer speeches required of the characters.

“That show is so much fun. I gotta tell you, that group was so on it, but it was the hardest job I ever had,” Roberts said. “Because we speak in monologues all the time, speeches, and they hand you rewrites every five minutes. It’s a very hard show to keep up with. But it’s a fantastic group, every one of ’em, especially [actor Gabe Macht]. I love him.”

Roberts appeared in Suits as Charles Forstman, a billionaire banker who appeared throughout the series’ run. Originally premiering in 2011 on the USA Network, Suits was a highly successful show that ran for nine seasons in total. After its conclusion in 2019, the show would go on to get an incredible resurgence in popularity after it was added to Netflix and Peacock in 2023. As a result of the show’s success, a spin-off series titled Suits: L.A., is now in development.
