The Acolyte Season 2 Would Have ‘4 to 5 Major Mysteries,’ Says Showrunner

While The Acolyte Season 2 has yet to be officially set by Disney, showrunner Leslye Headland teased that she has some ideas for what could happen.

The showrunner shared her focus was to put everything into Season 1 just in case the series didn’t continue, but there were some “major mysteries” that could show up in Season 2.

What did Leslye Headland say about The Acolyte Season 2?

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Headland was asked about where she was in terms of a second season and if anything had been thought up.

“I threw everything into Season 1, because who knows what’s going to happen? And then I’d say there are four to five major mysteries and plot points that have to get hit in Season 2, but until we get a proper pickup, I worry that spending a lot of time in that world — especially being in a period where I’ve worked so long on this project that honestly I’m exhausted by it coming out — to kind of jump right into like, ‘All right, Season 2,'” said Headland.

The showrunner went on to say that she’d likely need to know more about the future of the show before diving fully into what might happen.

“It will probably be more that I know what needs to happen, and I know what the character development needs to be in order to hit the plot points and the character points for a second, third, or fourth season,” Headland said. “So I look forward to working on that, but right now, I haven’t.”

Star Wars: The Acolyte is written and executive produced by Leslye Headland (Russian Doll), who also serves as showrunner. The series stars Amandla Stenberg and Lee Jung-jae, with other cast members including Dafne Keen (His Dark Materials), Rebecca Henderson (Inventing Anna), Dean-Charles Chapman (1917), Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix), Manny Jacinto (The Good Place), Jodie Turner-Smith (After Yang), Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll), and Star Wars sequel trilogy alum Joonas Suotama as a new character in the form of a Wookiee Jedi master.
