Twisted Metal Season 2 Finds Its Live-Action Calypso

Peacock has officially welcomed Emmy nominee Anthony Carrigan to the cast of Twisted Metal Season 2, which is being led by Marvel star Anthony Mackie. Besides Carrigan, Richard de Klerk (Strange Empire), Patty Guggenheim (She-Hulk: Attorney at Law), and Tiana Okoye (Mrs. Davis) have also been tapped for recurring guest-star roles in the next installment of the post-apocalyptic action comedy.

Carrigan has been cast for the series regular role of Calypso, who is known as one of the main antagonists of the original video game series. Carrigan is no stranger to villain roles, as he previously played two different DC villains in The CW’s The Flash and Fox’s Gotham shows. This also marks Carrigan’s first major TV project since last appearing in HBO’s acclaimed dark comedy Barry, which had wrapped its four-season run last year.

Who is Calypso in Twisted Metal Season 2?

According to Calypso’s official character description, he is described as “the mysterious, charismatic host and creator of a dangerous demolition derby tournament, who invites all assassins, vigilantes, mercenaries and joyriders to participate. To the winner, he offers the prize of making their greatest wish come true, but with Calypso there’s always a twist.”

Based on the classic PlayStation video game series, Twisted Metal is written and executive produced by Michael Jonathan Smith, who is also serving as the showrunner. The comedy stars Anthony Mackie, Stephanie Beatriz, Thomas Haden Church, Will Arnett and Joe Seanoa. Season 1 also featured guest stars Neve Campbell, Richard Cabral, Mike Mitchell, Tahj Vaughans, Lou Beatty Jr. During the show’s debut weekend last year, it garnered 400 million viewing minutes, making it Peacock’s most-watched comedy premiere to date.

Executive producers are Mackie, Arnett, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Marc Forman, Jason Spire, Peter Principato, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan and Hermen Hulst, with Kitao Sakurai directing multiple episodes. It hails from Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions, and Universal Television.
