Star Wars: The Acolyte Viewers Disappointed by Carrie-Anne Moss’ Appearance

Star Wars: The Acolyte debuted to plenty of praise (and criticism), but viewers were left particularly downhearted by Carrie-Anne Moss‘s role as Jedi Master Indara. The Acolyte episode 1 and episode 2 dropped on Disney Plus this week, and Moss’ role had been hyped by the showrunner, but fans felt it was a bit of a letdown.

The First Omen

Why? Well, Moss’s character is only in it for about five minutes before being killed off. She has a pretty cool fight first, but understandably, the outcome isn’t entirely popular.

Star Wars: The Acolyte viewers react to Carrie-Anne Moss character Indara’s death

When The Acolyte showrunner Leslye Headland said last month that Carrie-Ann Moss’ Indara was inspired heavily by The Matrix’s Trinity, it’s unlikely fans thought it would be such a distinct part. Carrie-Anne Moss may have a brief role as Jedi Master Indara in The Acolyte, but it feels quite familiar for Matrix fans. Recall the opening to The Matrix Reloaded when Keanu Reeves’ Neo dreams of Trinity kicking ass before meeting her death.

There’s no Neo to rewrite destiny here, though, and viewers aren’t happy about that.

One social media user was pretty exasperated, writing, ”BRO WHY HAVE THE!!! Carrie-Ann Moss on this show just to do her like that.”

”They did NOT just kill off Carrie-Ann Moss in the first five minutes, did they? I need more Trinity than that.” wrote another viewer.

”Did this show seriously hire Carrie Ann Moss just to murder her in the first 5 minutes? Trinity just can’t catch a break.”

Another pointed out the shock value didn’t feel earned.

”First part of #TheAcolyte – Carrie Ann Moss could’ve carried this show. Thanks a lot. Not a Ned Stark moment if it happens in first five minutes.”

Some found it a bit deceptive that Moss had been so prominent in pre-release hype.

”Carrie Ann Moss has been all over all the marketing, all the trailers, doing press…and they kill her in the first 5 minutes.”

”Had all that hype with Carrie Ann Moss just to kill her in the first episode. They’re weak af for that. Waste of my time. Not surprised.”
