The Acolyte creator Leslye Headland has revealed that the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II video game heavily inspired the upcoming Disney+ series. The Amandla Stenberg-led Star Wars series is scheduled to hit the streamer on June 4.
A longtime Star Wars fan, Headland revealed in an interview with Collider that she took inspiration from the iconic video game Knights of the Old Republic II and that Kreia/Darth Traya served as her biggest inspiration in creating the series.
“The biggest inspiration for me was Kreia/Darth Traya in Knights of the Old Republic 2,” said Headland. “A character that when I first encountered her playing the game, I was really blown away by her characterization as well as the journey that she took the protagonist through.”
The creator added, “It felt like a type of character that I would be interested in building a narrative around , so that was kind of what I was bringing to it in addition to my overall fandom. That was the thing that I kind of picked up on when I was brainstorming about this.”
