Dove Cameron and Avan Jogia will star in Obsession, an upcoming thriller series executive produced by James Wan, which is set to premiere on Prime Video.
Obsession is based on 56 Days, the international best-seller from author Catherine Ryan Howard. The story follows Oliver (Jogia) and Ciara (Cameron). After meeting randomly in a supermarket, Oliver and Ciara fall for each other fast. But just 56 days later, homicide investigators arrive at Oliver’s apartment to find an unidentified body. The body’s been brutally murdered and intentionally decomposed, with questions arising: Did he kill her or did she kill him?
As reported by Deadline, the series will move between two different timelines to tell the story. It’s partly an intense investigation in the present and an examination of a young love affair in the past, promising to be both a crime story and an erotic psychological thriller.
The project is produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Wan’s Atomic Monster production company, which was ordered at the end of last year. Wan, known for directing movies like Saw, The Conjuring, Insidious, Malignant, and Aquaman, serves as executive producer alongside Lisa Zwerling and Karyn Usher. Usher and Zwerling will also write the series.
Wan, Michael Clear, and Rob Hackett are executive producing via Atomic Monster, with Danielle Bozzone overseeing the series on behalf of the company. Sandrine Gros d’Aillon also serves as executive producer. The author of the novel, Catherine Ryan Howard, is serving as co-executive producer. Alethea Jones is directing the first two episodes.

Cameron, a platinum recording artist, won a Daytime Emmy for her dual lead roles in Liv and Maddie. most recently appeared alongside Keegan-Michael Key and Cecily Strong in the Apple TV+ musical dramedy Schmigadoon! Her other credits include playing Ruby in seven episodes of Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D., starring in Mel Brooks’ History of the World: Part II, B.J. Novak’s directorial debut Vengeance, and the Descendants film franchise.
Jogia will next be seen opposite Krysten Ritter in the AMC spin-off series Orphan Black: Echoes, The actor’s other television credits include Now Apocalypse and The Stranger. On the big screen, Jogia appeared in Ten Thousand Saints, I Am Michael, and Zombieland: Double Tap, and Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City.
