The final episode of Young Sheldon has managed to accumulate an impressive viewership, ending its seven-season run on CBS as the network’s most-watched comedy series and the show’s biggest episode in four years.
According to Nielsen’s data (via Variety), nearly 9 million viewers have tuned in to say goodbye to the Cooper family. The Big Bang Theory spin-off concluded with back-to-back episodes, with the penultimate episode, “Funeral,” garnering a total of 8.8 million viewers.
Meanwhile, the last episode, “Memoir,” brought in a total of 8.95 million viewers — a significant achievement the show hasn’t quite reached since its Season 3 finale. This also marks the latest achievement for Young Sheldon following its record-breaking series premiere back in 2017.
Young Sheldon stars Iain Armitage as Sheldon Cooper, Zoe Perry as Mary Cooper, Lance Barber as George Cooper Sr., Montana Jordan as Georgie Cooper Jr., Raegan Revord as Missy Cooper, and Annie Potts as Connie Tucker.
The Young Sheldon world continues with Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage
While the hit sitcom has already wrapped up its emotional seventh season, Jordan and Emily Osment will be returning for the show’s spin-off series titled Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. The upcoming series will center on the titular couple’s married life in Texas as they try to raise their small family as well as navigate the complicated life of parenting and marriage.
Apart from Jordan and Osment as Georgie and Mandy, the series will also see the return of Will Sasso and Rachel Bay Jones as Mandy’s parents, Jim and Audrey McAllister, respectively. Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro, and Steve Holland will serve as the show’s executive producers.
“Their story is open-ended. We don’t know what happened. In Sheldon, we always knew the end of his story from The Big Bang Theory. We always knew he’s gonna grow up and get married and win a Nobel prize,” Holland said in a previous interview with Deadline. “With Georgie and Mandy . . . we don’t really know what happens to them and their relationship and their lives too much.”
No exact release date has been set yet for the upcoming spin-off, but it is expected to air on CBS this fall. You may check out the tease trailer for Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage down below:
