Will Ferrell to Lead Netflix Comedy Series Golf

After a slew of critically acclaimed movie projects, celebrated actor Will Ferrell is making his television debut with Netflix in a ten-episode series he co-created alongside Ramy Youssef and Josh Rabinowitz.

Per Variety, Ferrell’s first scripted comedy series, titled Golf, will see the comedian starring as a fictional golf legend.

Nothing much has been revealed yet about what the show will entail, but viewers can expect the series to be something close to Ferrell’s heart, as he is also a golf player himself. He has also hosted a fundraising event called The Will Powered Golf Classic, which aims to support Cancer for College.

Who else is involved in Golf?

In addition to starring, Youssef also joined the cast in a still-undisclosed role. He also serves as Golf’s showrunner and executive producer along with Rabinowitz. Additional executive producers are Gloria Sanchez Productions’ Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum, and Alix Taylor; T-Street’s Rian Johnson, Ram Bergman, and Nena Rodriguez; and Cairo Cowboy’s Andy Campagna.

Ferrell, who will be making his television acting debut in Golf, has starred in a number of features, including Elf, The Other Guys, Stranger Than Fiction, Everything Must Go, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, Blades of Glory, Old School, Zoolander, Land of the Lost, Kicking & Screaming, and Step Brothers.

The comedian most recently starred as the CEO of Mattel in 2023’s Margot Robbie-led Barbie. He can next be heard as Gru’s new enemy, Maxime Le Mal, in Despicable Me 4. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on July 3, 2024.

Meanwhile, Youssef — best known for his role as Ramy Hassan in Hulu’s Ramy — has starred in Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot and Poor Things. He also served as Safi’s voice in the 2023 animated feature Wish. Youssef’s television credits include See Dad Run and Mr. Robot.

Other details about Golf remain under wraps.
