Amy Sedaris is set to join the Frasier Season 2 cast in a guest role, becoming the latest actor to join the Paramount+ reboot.
According to Variety, Sedaris will play Dr. “Doc” Stathos. The character is described as “a municipal therapist. She has a folksy and scattered veneer and she works with the firefighters at Freddy’s firehouse. But in addition to working with Frasier’s son, she’s a big fan of Dr. Crane (Kelsey Grammer) himself from his old talk show days.
Frasier Season 2 is currently filming, with a cast that includes Peri Gilpin reprising the role of Roz Doyle. Gilpin previously appeared briefly in the season 1 finale. Behind the camera, Cheers co-creator James Burrows will be back to direct two episodes.
The series follows “Frasier Crane (Grammer) in the next chapter of his life after he returns to Boston to face new challenges, forge new relationships and – with hope – finally fulfill an old dream or two,” per the official synopsis.
In addition to Grammer, the series stars Jack Cutmore-Scott as Freddy, Frasier’s son; Nicholas Lyndhurst as Alan, Frasier’s old college buddy turned university professor; Toks Olagundoye as Olivia, Alan’s colleague and head of the university’s psychology department; Jess Salgueiro as Eve, Frasier and Freddy’s neighbor; and Anders Keith as David, Frasier’s nephew.
The Frasier reboot comes from writers Chris Harris (How I Met Your Mother) and Joe Cristalli (Life in Pieces), who executive produce with Kelsey Grammer, Tom Russo and Jordan McMahon. The series is produced by CBS Studios in association with Grammer’s Grammnet NH Productions. The series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution outside of the Paramount+ market.
