Taylor Swift‘s feud with record executive Scooter Braun will be explored in a new season of the popular docuseries, vs. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Taylor Swift vs Scooter Braun: Bad Blood will be the subject of the new season from Warner Bros. Discovery U.K. & Ireland. The series will air on Discovery+ in the U.K. and Ireland this June.
Taylor Swift vs Scooter Braun: Bad Blood will examine the repercussions of Braun’s $300 million purchase of Big Machine Records in 2019, which included the rights to Swift’s six albums. This controversial acquisition led Swift to rerelease her records as “Taylor’s Versions,” which have been massively successful for music’s biggest act.
What to Expect in Taylor Swift vs Scooter Braun: Bad Blood?
The official logline reads: “True to the ‘vs’ format, the two episodes will examine the opposing sides of the argument; one exploring Swift’s side that the sale was conducted without consulting her and that she has since been blocked from buying back her masters, and the other examining Braun’s allegations that Swift refused to negotiate and instead incited a public feud by pitting her fan base against him.”
The series will feature interviews with journalists, legal experts, and insiders who will present arguments for and against both parties. Bad Blood will also examine the specifics of music ownership, fan influence on an artist, and gender issues in music.
“Taylor Swift’s dispute with Scooter Braun over the ownership of her music exploded into the mainstream, taking contract law from boardroom to social media and into public interest,” Charlotte Reid, VP of commissioning for WBD U.K.’s networks and streaming, said in a statement. “It’s a high-profile, high-interest story that opened debate on fandom and dominated headlines, one which will resonate with our viewers who are highly engaged with access-led documentaries like ‘vs’, which continues to be a popular format on Discovery+.”
Executive producers include Nick Hornby and Sarah Eglin for Optomen TV, while Matt Reid executive produces for Warner Bros. Discovery in the U.K. and Ireland.
Taylor Swift vs Scooter Braun: Bad Blood is the latest series in the vs’s franchise, which includes Johnny vs Amber and Kim vs. Kanye: The Divorce.
