Orphan: Dulé Hill and Sarayu Blue Join Hulu Limited Series

Hulu’s Orphan has enlisted Dulé Hill (The Wonder Years) and Sarayu Blue (Expats) to star in the upcoming limited series opposite Ellen Pompeo (Grey’s Anatomy) and Mark Duplass (Creep). Both Hill and Blue are set for key recurring roles.

Still under the working title Orphan, Pompeo will also executive produce the series in addition to starring. The eight-episode drama series, written by Katie Robbins, is inspired by the true story of Michael and Kristine Barnett — both of whom will be portrayed by Duplass and Pompeo, respectively — as they begin to question everything about their adoptive daughter Natalia (Imogen Faith Reid), including her age and background.

“As they begin to raise her alongside their three biological children, they slowly start to believe she may not be who she says she is,” the synopsis reads. “They start questioning her story, leading them to be confronted with hard questions of their own about the lengths they’re willing to go to defend themselves, falling into a battle that’s fought in the tabloids, the courtroom, and ultimately their marriage.”

Who else is involved in Orphan?

Hill will be playing Detective Brandon Drysdale, who will serve as the investigator regarding the criminal allegations hurled against Michael and Kristine. On the other hand, Blue is set to portray Valika, one of the parents at Kristine’s daycare center.

Robbins will also executive produce the series alongside co-writer Sarah Sutherland, Mike Epps, Dan Spilo, Niles Kirchner, and Andrew Stearn. Pompeo and Laura Holstein will be executive producing through their Calamity Jane banner. The series is a production by ABC Signature.

Hill is best known for his roles in She’s All That, Hypnotic, Suits, The Wonder Years, and The West Wing, while Blue’s television and film credits include Blockers, Happiest Season, A Million Miles Away, Monday Mornings, No Tomorrow, and Expats.
