Shortly after Georgie and Mandy tied the knot during Thursday’s episode of Young Sheldon Season 7, Montana Jordan and Emily Osment revealed that the planned spin-off will be giving more screen time for Mandy’s family.
CBS has previously ordered a spin-off series led by Jordan and Osment, focusing on the duo as they navigate their married life in Texas. Now, the stars shared in an interview with TVLine that audiences will be seeing more of Mandy’s family in the upcoming series.
“I would love that. I was telling Emily that I had a little thought about a storyline for meemaw because we haven’t said anything about her grandma. There might be stuff about her in the new show,” said Jordan.
Osment then added, “You’ll get to meet more of Mandy’s family. She has a brother that we don’t spend any time with. We don’t know where he is. I think there’s an opportunity for more McAllister to make themselves be known.”
What to expect in the Young Sheldon spin-off?
Young Sheldon is a spin-off in and of itself to the Jim Parsons-led The Big Bang Theory. A well-received sitcom, the show has spawned a total of seven seasons since its debut on CBS in 2017. With the seventh season serving as its last, a new spin-off has moved out of the development phase — only this time, it will be focused on Georgie and Mandy.
However, little is still known about the project as of this moment, but it is expected to be part of CBS’ 2024-25 slate. Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro, and Steve Holland will executive produce.
“It has been a privilege to spend the last seven years with Sheldon and the Cooper family, and now this wonderful journey will continue with Georgie and Mandy,” said CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach. “Chuck and both Steves have done a masterful job developing these characters and entertaining generations of fans with relatable, heartwarming stories brought to life by Montana and Emily. We eagerly look forward to the next chapter in this beloved universe.”
