Emily VanCamp, known for her role as Sharon Carter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is set to lead the upcoming procedural drama Prejudice from Celeste Parr.
What’s VanCamp’s new show about?
According to Deadline, VanCamp will play Liesl Wellington. A rising Toronto litigator, Wellington’s career and marriage to a senator get turned into chaos when her past as a sex worker is uncovered. As she’s scorned by her field and within her social circle, Wellington starts her own law firm that’s dedicated to defending others who have been silenced and stigmatized.
The project, which does not yet have a network attached as of yet, hails from Keshet International, Pixcom, and Thruline Entertainment, which co-produced the Hulu dramedy The Great. It’s created and written by Parr, who wrote the 2014 romantic drama Gurov and Anna.
In addition to her role as Sharon Carter, most recently seen in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, VanCamp is a TV veteran. She’s had prominent and leading roles in Everwood, Brothers and Sisters, and The Resident. She also played Emily Thorne for four seasons on the ABC primetime soap Revenge.
KI CEO Keren Shahar called Prejudice a “heartening legal drama that takes on all the forces that conspire to keep the underdog hidden, silent, unequal, and without agency.” He added: “There are so many elements about this series that will appeal to audiences, not least having the talented Emily VanCamp cast in the lead role.”
