According to Deadline, Golden Globe winner Don Johnson (Miami Vice, Nash Bridges) has been tapped to star opposite Joshua Jackson in ABC‘s upcoming medical drama Dr. Odyssey from Ryan Murphy. This marks Johnson’s first major TV project in a while, after previously starring in 2019’s Watchmen and 2021’s Kenan.
At the moment, official details about the plot and the character descriptions are still being kept under wraps. However, the outlet notes that the project may potentially take place on a cruise ship. ABC is currently planning to give the series a fall release date.
Who’s involved in Dr. Odyssey?
Dr. Odyssey is written and executive produced by Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz, and Joe Baken, with Paris Barclay attached to direct. In addition to starring, Jackson is also executive producing alongside Barclay, Eric Paquette, Alexis Martin Woodall, Eric Kovtun, Scott Robertson and Nissa Diederich. It is a production by 20th Television.
Jackson is no stranger to the medical genre, as he previously portrayed a doctor in 2021’s crime thriller Dr. Death. His most recent TV project was Paramount+’s series adaptation of the 1987 movie Fatal Attraction. He will also next be seen in Sony Pictures’ newest Karate Kid movie with Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan.
