Tom Hiddleston’s The Night Manager Returning for 2 More Seasons

More than a year since it was announced that Amazon MGM Studios and BBC were developing another season of The Night Manager, Deadline brings word that the Tom Hiddleston-led spy thriller has finally received an official two-season order. Production on The Night Manager Season 2 is expected to begin sometime this year.

“We are elated to bring additional seasons of The Night Manager to our Prime Video customers,” Amazon boss Vernon Sanders said in a statement. “The combination of terrific source material, the wonderful team at The Ink Factory, a great writer in David Farr, an award-winning director in Georgi Banks-Davies, as well as the talented cast truly make the series the full package.”

Who’s involved in the next seasons of The Night Manager?

Based on the characters from John le Carré’s novel of the same name, the next installments of The Night Manager will once again be written by David Farr, with Stephen Garrett and Georgi Banks-Davies serving as the showrunner and director, respectively. Hugh Laurie is also returning as an executive producer alongside Hiddleston. However, it’s currently unclear if Laurie would be reprising his role as Richard Roper. Further details about the plot and characters are still under wraps, but Season 2 will reportedly take place eight years after the Season 1 finale.

The first season, which aired on BBC One and AMC, also starred Olivia Colman, Elizabeth Debicki, Tobias Menzies, David Harewood and Tom Hollander. For their performance in the first installment, Hiddleston, Colman, and Laurie each received a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor, Supporting Actress, and Best Supporting Actor, respectively.
