According to Deadline, Marvel vet Kat Dennings has signed on to star opposite Tim Allen in ABC’s upcoming multi-camera comedy pilot, Shifting Gears.
Should the project received an official series order, this would mark Dennings’ broadcast TV comeback after seven years since 2 Broke Girls ended its six-season run. Before Shifting Gears, she had major roles in streaming shows such as Hulu’s Dollface and Disney+’s WandaVision.
What is Shifting Gears about?
“Shifting Gears centers on Matt (Allen), the stubborn, widowed owner of a classic car restoration shop. When Matt’s estranged daughter Riley (Dennings) and her teenage kids move into his house, the real restoration begins,” reads the logline. “Riley butted heads with her father growing up and left to marry the boyfriend he hated. Now divorced, Riley’s forced to move back home with two kids, hoping she and her dad can make it work this time.”
Shifting Gears is executive produced and written by Mike Scully and Julie Thacker Scully, who previously worked with Allen on the Last Man Standing series. Executive producers are llen, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Richard Baker, and Rick Messina, with Dennings also attached to produce. It is a production by 20th Television.
