As The Conners celebrates a huge milestone with the 100th episode airing on Wednesday, April 10, the synopsis for the upcoming episode teases that the show may pay tribute to Roseanne Conner, six years after the character passed away on the show.
Per the official synopsis provided by ABC (via Futon Critic), Season 6’s seventh episode — titled “Smash and Grab and Happy Death Day” — will see Beverly Rose learning some lessons about “remembering loved ones who have passed.”
Though the synopsis did not specifically mention any names, the upcoming episode will most likely tackle the death of Beverly Rose’s grandmother, Roseanne. Beverly, the daughter of Becky Conner and Emilio Rodriguez, did not get a chance to meet her grandmother.
Season 6, Episode 7, will air on ABC on April 10 from 8:00 to 8:30 p.m. ET. Read the synopsis below:
“The hardware store experiences a smash-and-grab, and Dan and Jackie nab one of the culprits. Meanwhile, Beverly Rose learns a lesson in remembering loved ones who have passed while keeping their memories alive.”
Why was Roseanne written off the show?
The Conners serves as a spin-off to ABC’s hit sitcom, Roseanne. The Roseanne Barr-led sitcom enjoyed its fruitful run on the network until 1997 and received a Season 10 renewal over a decade later. However, although the tenth season premiered back in 2018, the show was abruptly canceled after the actress shared controversial Twitter (now X) posts, sharing racist remarks about Barack Obama’s former senior adviser, Valerie Jarrett. Her tweets later got her fired from the network.
Luckily, in the same year, ABC ordered a spin-off series centered on The Conners family. During the show’s premiere, it was revealed that Roseanne died of an opioid overdose.
Except for Barr, most of Roseanne’s main cast members returned for the spin-off series, including John Goodman as Dan Conner, Sara Gilbert as Darlene Conner, Michael Fishman as D.J. Conner, and more.
