Smiling Friends Season 2 Premiere Date Announced, Season 1 Episodes Recreated With Puppets

Adult Swim has announced that Smiling Friends will return for its second season in May 2024.

Announced in a press release by Warner Bros. Discovery, the second season of Smiling Friends will premiere at midnight on Adult Swim on Sunday, May 12, 2024.

“In season two of Smiling Friends, Pim, Charlie, Zongo, Allan and Glep continue their mission to bring happiness to the world, whether it’s a washed-up retro video game character, a troubled marriage, or even the president of the United States,” the synopsis reads.

The series is co-created and stars Michael Cusack and Zach Hadel.

“HELLOOO EVERYONE HOPE YOU WATCH THE NEW SEASON OF ‘SMILING FRIENDS’ AND THE SMILING FRIENDS PUPPET SHOW,” Cusack and Hadel said in a statement. “IT’S GOING TO BE SOOOOO COOL AND FUN AND HOPE YOU WATCH!!!!!!!”

In celebration of April Fools’ Day, Adult Swim has also recreated three episodes featured in the first season of Smiling Friends with puppets, which was followed by a surprise airing of the Season 2 premiere episode. The puppet video can be viewed below:

Who else stars in Adult Swim’s Smiling Friends?

Along with Cusack and Hadel, Smiling Friends’ voice cast includes Marc M., David Dore, Mick Lauer, Erica Lindbeck, Chris O’Neill, Hans van Harken, Rodrigo Huerta, Joshua Tomar, and Harry Partridge. Actors such as Finn Wolfhard, Gilbert Gottfried, Mike Stoklasa, James Rolfe, and more have all guest-starred in the series.

“Smiling Friends follows Smiling Friends Inc. employees Charlie, Pim, Alan, Glep, as well as their boss, Mr. Boss, as they face misadventures while trying to make people smile, or otherwise bring happiness to their clients,” the synopsis for the series reads.

Smiling Friends Season 2 premieres on Adult Swim at midnight on May 12, 2024. New episodes will be available to stream on Max or purchase digitally the following day.
