According to Deadline, Grace and Frankie star June Diane Raphael has signed on for the leading role in the multi-camera comedy series Something Wicked, which is currently in development at NBC.
Details about Raphael’s character remained under wraps, but the project will be inspired by the classic sitcom Bewitched. Should it secure an official series order from NBC, this would mark Raphael’s first major TV project as the lead, after only having recurring and guest-starring roles in shows like Fresh Off the Boat, Black Monday, Abbott Elementary, and Frasier.
What to expect from Something Wicked?
“The series described as a comedy with a Bewitched-type premise and an homage to TV sitcom classics,” reads the logline. “It examines the condition of modern adult womanhood and how even with witchcraft, balancing everything is impossible.”
Something Wicked is written and executive produced by Raphael and Dickinson creator Alena Smith. It is production by Universal Television. At the moment, this isn’t the only Bewitched-inspired series in the works, as it has been recently reported that Sony Television is also developing a reboot series of the classic ’60s sitcom with The Boys executive producer Judalina Neira.
