The Walking Dead franchise has once again proven to be an enormous success for AMC, as the premiere of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live — a spin-off focusing on fan-favorite characters Rick Grimes and Michonne — has delivered a total of 3 million viewers after only three days of viewing.
According to Nielsen (via Deadline), The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live — which debuted on February 25 — was the biggest premiere night for AMC in six years since The Terror premiered in 2018. The show’s premiere has also garnered a record-breaking viewership number on AMC+, making it the most-viewed episode ever on the streamer.
The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live is the sixth and latest spin-off in the TWD saga, with others being Fear the Walking Dead, World Beyond, Tales of the Walking Dead, Dead City, and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon.
The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live is “an epic love story”
Starring Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes and Danai Gurira as Michonne, the TWD spin-off centers on the tragic love story of the two characters, who are kept apart by distance.
The official synopsis reads: “The love story of Rick Grimes and Michonne is changed by a changed world. Kept apart by distance. By an unstoppable power. By the ghosts of who they were. Rick and Michonne are thrown into another world, built on a war against the dead… And ultimately, a war against the living. Can they find each other and who they were in a place and situation unlike any they’ve ever known before? Are they enemies? Lovers? Victims? Victors? Without each other, are they even alive – or will they find that they, too, are the Walking Dead?”
The six-episode series also stars Pollyanna McIntosh, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Terry O’Quinn, Matthew August Jeffers, Craig Tate, Andrew Bachelor, and more.
