Evil Season 4 ‘Will Have Much More Creepiness,’ Says Creator

With Dr. Kristen Bouchard, David Acosta, and Ben Shakir’s supernatural adventures coming to an end with the upcoming fourth season of Evil, series co-creator Robert King has teased bigger and spookier things coming the audience’s way when the Paramount+ series returns this May.

In an interview with Collider, King revealed some key details about what the fourth season will entail, including the birth of Kristen and Leland’s child.

“The biggest key is probably the birth of this baby that is the product of Kristen’s egg and Leland’s sperm. Whenever I return to the world, I feel like a nut even explaining it. It’s about how much is a baby truly innocent, and how much are they a combination of their genetic structure. That is the pretentious way to put it,” King told Collider. “The comic way to put it is, what is Leland like with a newborn baby, with a baby monitor, and with diaper genies?”

He added: “It’s spookier because Sister Andrea is going to fight many more demons. We just love Andrea Martin and what she does with the character. She’s our window into the monsters and the demon world that the normal characters don’t see happening around them, and they’re scarier. Joel [Harlow], who does our creatures, is just outdoing himself. It will have much more creepiness. It’s not the jump scares of monsters, but that unnerving feeling of, am I seeing a monster in that corner or is it just a dark corner?”

Evil to end with Season 4

The supernatural drama thriller premiered on CBS in 2019 for its first season. It was then renewed for Season 2 at Paramount+ in 2021, becoming exclusive content for the streaming service through Season 3.

The show was renewed in 2022 and filming for Season 4 began earlier this year. The production was disrupted, though, due to the now-resolved Hollywood strikes at the time. Unfortunately, on February 15, it was announced that Season 4 would be the show’s final.

What is Evil about?

The supernatural drama follows forensic psychologist Kristen Bouchard (Katja Herbers), who, despite her reservations, collaborates with former journalist David Acosta (Mike Colter) to solve supernatural crimes.

The rest of the Evil cast members also include Aasif Mandvi as the devil’s advocate Ben Shakir, Kurt Fuller as Dr. Kurt Boggs, Marti Matulis as George, Brooklyn Shuck as Lynn Bouchard, Skylar Gray as Lila Bouchard, Maddy Crocco as Lexis Bouchard, Dalya Knapp as Laura Bouchard, Christine Lahti as Sheryl Luria, and Michael Emerson as Dr. Leland Townsend.

The official synopsis for Evil reads as follows: “Skeptical psychologist Kristen Bouchard joins David Acosta, who is training to be a Catholic priest, and a blue collar contractor as they investigate the church’s backlog of unexplained mysteries, including supposed miracles, demonic possessions and other extraordinary occurrences. Their job is to assess if there’s a logical explanation or if something truly supernatural is at work, examining the origins of evil along the dividing line between science and religion.”
