According to Variety, Felicity vet Scott Speedman has been tapped for the leading role opposite The Handmaid’s Tale star Yvonne Strahovski in Peacock’s upcoming horror thriller Teacup. The project hails from The Conjuring Universe creator James Wan.
Speedman will be playing the character of James Chenoweth. Speedman is no stranger to the horror genre, as he previously starred as a Lycan-Vampire hybrid in the Underworld film franchise. Before starring in Teacup, he will first reprise his role as Nick Marsh in the upcoming Grey’s Anatomy Season 20, which will start airing on March 14.
What is Teacup about?
“The series follows a disparate group of people in rural Georgia who must come together in the face of a mysterious threat in order to survive,” reads the logline.
Based on Robert McCammon’s Stinger novel, Teacup will be written and executive produced by Ian McCulloch, with The Haunting of Bly Manor’s E.L. Katz to direct the first episode. In addition to portraying the role of Maggie Chenoweth, Strahovski has also signed on as a producer. It will be executive produced by Katz, Wan, McCammon, Francisca X. Hu, Kevin Tancharoen, Michael Clear, Rob Hackett, It hails from Atomic Monster and UCP.
Besides Teacup, Wan is also currently producing other TV shows, including Peacock’s untitled techno-thriller series, which will be led by Simu Liu. Last December 2023, the horror filmmaker also teamed up with Amazon MGM Studios for the upcoming series adaptation of Obsession, based on Catherine Ryan Howard’s bestselling thriller novel 56 Days.
