Parasyte: The Grey Poster Sets Release Date for Netflix Adaptation of Hit Manga Series

Netflix has unveiled the official Parasyte: The Grey poster for the upcoming live-action series adaptation of the hit sci-fi horror manga. Directed by Train to Busan’s Yeon Sang-ho, the South Korean remake will start streaming on April 5.

“In my twenties, Parasyte was a staple for those of us who were passionate about manga and animation,” Yeon said in a statement. “Having the opportunity to build upon it and create something new is not only a great honor, but also a dream come true from my younger years.”

What to expect in Parasyte: The Grey?

“In the series, as unidentified parasitic life-forms that live off human hosts strive to grow their power and start to disrupt society, a group of humans wage war against the rising evil,” reads the logline.

Parasyte: The Grey is inspired by the popular Japanese manga written and illustrated by Hitoshi Iwaaki. The upcoming series will be set in a new locale with fresh characters and will tell a new story while maintaining the imaginative world and profound message of original manga. Yeon Sang-ho is directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Ryu Yong-jae. It is a co-production by Climax Studios and WOW Point.

The ensemble cast will include Koo Kyo-hwan (D.P.) as Kang-woo, a man driven to fight parasites in his quest to find his missing sister; Lee Jung-hyun (Decision to Leave) as Jun-kyung, the determined leader of the anti-parasite task force; Kwon Hae-hyo (Peninsula) as Chul-min, a senior detective committed to protecting Su-in; Kim In-kwon (The Cursed: Dead Man’s Prey) as Won-seok, Chul-min’s junior colleague; Jeon So-nee; and more. In 2014, the manga was also adapted into an anime series, which lasted for 24 episodes.
