According to Deadline, Paramount+ has officially granted a series order to the upcoming UK-set crime thriller Curfew, which takes place in an alternate reality where all men must abide a strict nightly curfew.
The project hails from executive producer Nathalie Peter-Contesse, who described the project as a “provocative and thrilling show that aims to contribute to the important conversation around violence against women.” The target release for the new show has yet to be revealed.
What to expect in Curfew?
“Curfew is set in a society where all men live under ‘The Women’s Safety Act’, meaning they are bound by a strict curfew from 7PM to 7AM every night, with their movements tracked by an ankle tag 24 hours a day,” reads the synopsis. “When a woman’s body is discovered, brutally murdered during curfew hours and left on the steps of the Women’s Safety Centre, veteran Police officer Pamela Green believes that a man is responsible. But in a world where men are bound by the curfew system, her theory is rejected.”
Curfew will be led by Sarah Parish (Industry) as lead investigator Pamela, Mandip Gill (Doctor Who) as employee Sara, Mitchell Robertson (A Very British Scandal) rookie cop Eddie, and former The X Factor contestant Alexandra Burke as local school teacher Helen. The series will be written by Lydia Yeoman, Jess Green, and Sumerah Srivatav, with Joasia Goldyn directing. It is also executive produced by Allan Niblo and Jane Moore, with John Adams producing. The series is a production by Vertigo Films and Evolutionary Films.
