Per Variety, Nickelodeon has announced the upcoming debut of The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish, which serves as a spin-off to the network’s iconic animated fantasy series.
A New Wish will feature the return of Cosmo and Wanda, as they come out of retirement as fairy godparents for a 10-year-old girl. Original voice actors Daran Norris and Susanne Blakesee have been tapped to reprise their respective role as the beloved fairy couple Cosmo and Wanda.
They will be joined by Ashleigh Crystal Hairston, who will be succeeding Tara Strong’s Timmy Turner as the newest main character for the franchise. The 20-episode spin-off is expected to make its debut sometime this spring.
What to expect in The Fairly OddParents spin-off?
“In Fairly OddParents: A New Wish, ten-year-old Hazel Wells has just moved to the big city of Dimmadelphia because of her dad’s new job,” reads the synopsis. “On top of being in an unfamiliar environment, it’s the first time she’s been without her brother, Antony, who’s just left for college, leaving her lonely and unsure of herself. All that changes when the pink-and-green-haired neighbors next door reveal that they are no ordinary neighbors…they’re Cosmo and Wanda, fairy godparents! And they’re coming out of retirement to make all of Hazel’s wishes come true.”
The spin-off is executive produced by original series creator Butch Hartman, David Stone, Lindsay Katai, Hairston, Daniel Abramovici, and Fred Seibert. Nickelodeon executives Claudia Spinelli, Kelley Gardner and Neil Wade have been set to oversee the project in behalf of the company. It is a production by Nickelodeon Animation. The series will also be available internationally on Netflix.
