The Last of Us Creator Dashes Hopes for a Bill & Frank Spin-off

Due to the popularity of The Last of Us Season 1 Episode 3, titled “Long, Long Time,” series co-creator Craig Mazin was asked about the possibility of revisiting Bill and Frank’s story.

Speaking with Deadline, Mazin confirmed that he doesn’t have any plans for another Bill and Frank episode or spin-off. “I’m very proud of the episode we did with Bill and Frank,” he said. “There won’t be more Bill and Frank.”

Mazin’s comments come after Season 1 guest star Nick Offerman recently won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama for his memorable performance as Bill. After his win, Offerman had the chance to entertain the idea of a potential Bill and Frank spin-off.

“It certainly has been pitched,” the Parks and Recreation vet said. “I think we pitched a whole mini-series of a prequel of their lives before they met each other. It could be a musical. We’re not short on ideas. We’ll just we’ll see what Craig and Neil come up with.”

Who’s the cast of The Last of Us Season 2

The Last of Us currently stars Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Gabriel Luna as Tommy Miller, and Rutina Wesley as Maria. Following the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike, the series finally received its first batch of Season 2 casting announcements, revealing that Golden Globe nominee Kaitlyn Dever, Beef breakout Young Manzino, and Madame Web star Isabela Merced have been tapped for the respective roles of Abby, Jesse and Dina.

Season 2 is expected to be based on Naughty Dog’s acclaimed video game sequel The Last of Us Part II, which will feature a significant time jump introducing a now grown-up Ellie. It is executive produced and co-written by Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and original game writer Neil Druckmann, who is also serving as one of the directors. Executive producers are Carolyn Strauss, Evan Wells, Asad Qizilbash, and Carter Swan.

Season 1 is now available for streaming on Max.
