During the Primetime Emmy Awards red carpet event, Emmy nominee Jenna Ortega revealed what fans can expect from the second season of the hit Netflix series Wednesday.
Speaking with Live From E! host Laverne Cox, Ortega shared that she had already received some script from Wednesday Season 2. When asked about the evolution of her character, the actress teased that the second season will lean more on horror and action.
“We’re definitely leaning into a little bit more horror, but it’s really, really exciting because, all throughout the show, while Wednesday does need a little bit of an arc, she never really changes, and that’s the wonderful thing about her,” Ortega said. “There’s really, really good one-liners, and I think everything’s bigger. It’s a lot more action-packed … each episode will probably feel a little bit more like a movie, which is nice.”
Ortega was nominated for Best Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, losing against Quinta Brunson. Before her breakout role as the titular character in Wednesday, the actress appeared in several films and television shows, including The Babysitter: Killer Queen, The Fallout, Jane the Virgin, Stuck in the Middle, and You.
Ortega’s impressive acting credits also include Scream, Studio 666, X, Scream VI, and Miller’s Girl. Apart from Wednesday — which saw Ortega play a role in an adaptation of a classic franchise — fans will once again witness the actress taking on a role in another classic adaptation, this time for Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice.
When will Wednesday Season 2 come out?
According to RadioTimes, although Netflix definitely prioritizes the return of its hit series, no release date has been set yet for Wednesday Season 2.
In addition to Ortega reprising her role, some cast members potentially returning for Season 2 are Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez, Fred Armisen, Hunter Doohan, Emma Myers, Gwendoline Christie, Jamie McShane, Percy Hynes White, and Joy Sunday.
Other details about Wednesday Season 2 remain under wraps.
