Over four years since Big Little Lies concluded its 7-episode second season, Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon has shared a new update about the current progress of acclaimed HBO drama’s potential Season 3 renewal. Speaking with Variety, The Morning Show star confirmed that she and co-star and co-executive producer Nicole Kidman are indeed trying to work on Big Little Lies Season 3.
“We are working on it. Nic and I have been working on it a lot,” Witherspoon said.
At the moment, both Witherspoon and Kidman are busy starring in their respective hit TV shows, with Witherspoon expected to return for The Morning Show Season 3. Meanwhile, Kidman will next be seen in The Expats and Nine Perfect Strangers Season 2.
What is Big Little Lies?
Described as a darkly comedic drama, Big Little Lies follows the lives of five wealthy women who gets involved in a murder investigation. The series also starred Shailene Woodley as Jane Chapman, Laura Dern as Renata Klein, Adam Scott as Ed, Alexander Skarsgård as Perry Wright, Zoë Kravitz as Bonnie, Iain Armitage as Ziggy Chapman, and Kathryn Newton as Abigail Carlson. Season 2 also featured the appearance of Meryl Streep as Mary Louise Wright.
The series was created by David E. Kelley, based on Liane Moriarty’s novel of the same name. Executive producers include Kidman, Witherspoon, Kelley, Andrea Arnold, Bruna Papandrea, Per Saari, Gregg Fienberg, Nathan Ross, Liane Moriarty, and Jean-Marc Vallée. Season 1 won multiple Emmy and Golden Globe Awards including Outstanding Limited Series.
