The currently untitled HBO drama from Mare of Easttown creator Brad Inglesby staring Mark Ruffalo has cast two new roles. Deadline reports that Emilia Jones and Thuso Mbedu have joined the show.
What’s Ruffalo’s HBO show about?
The series is based on an original idea by Ingelsby, taking place “in the working-class suburbs outside of Philadelphia. It follows an FBI agent who heads a Task Force, to put an end to the trend of drug-house robberies that an unsuspecting family man spearheads. Currently known as Task Force, the project also stars Ozark alum Tom Pelphrey.
Jones, recently seen in Cat Person and CODA, will portray Maeve, the niece of Robbie (Pelphrey) who puts her life on hold to care for his children. Mbedu, who played Nawi in the action movie epic The Woman King, has been tapped to portray Sergeant Detective Aleah who has been recruited for Tom’s task force.
Ingelsby serves as a writer and executive producer alongside Jeremiah Zagar and Salli Richardson-Whitfield, with the latter two directing. Ruffalo will also executive produce with Paul Lee and Mark Roybal for Wiip, and David Crockett. Nicole Jordan-Webber and Public Record’s Jeremy Yaches serve as co-executive producers.
Ingelsby earned an Emmy nomination for on Mare of Easttown in the Outstanding Writing for a Limited Series. The 2021 drama, led by Kate Winslet, became a hit with both audiences and critics and won several awards. It’s currently not expected to return for a Season 2.
