Max has renewed Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake for a second season, set to continue the adventures in Finn and Jake’s alternate universe.
The spin-off to Cartoon Network’s hit animated show Adventure Time arrived on August 31, 2023. Now, just a few months later, the streamer has announced that the gender-swapping series will be returning for Season 2.
In a statement, Max and Adult Swim executive vice president Suzanna Makko teases that the second season will “dig deeper into the world through the [Fionna and Cake] lens.”
Produced by Cartoon Network Studios, Adam Muto — besides serving as the series’ showrunner — executive produces alongside Fred Seibert and Sam Register.
What is Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake about?
Set in the land of Ooo, Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake centers on the alternate universe versions of Adventure Time characters Finn and Jake. As they both embark on a multiverse-hopping journey, a formidable and powerful antagonist threatens Fionna and Cake’s life, stopping at nothing to remove them from existence.
The logline for Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake Season 1 reads as follows: “When Fionna and her sidekick Cake find themselves in the crosshairs of a powerful new foe, they have no choice but to seek the help of former Ice King Simon Petrikov. With appearances from Marshall Lee, Marceline the Vampire Queen, Princess Bubblegum, and Finn the Human, Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake transports fans of the classic series to worlds both familiar and alien.”
The Season 1 voice cast members include Madeleine Martin as Madeleine Martin, Roz Ryan as Cake the Cat, Tom Kenny as Simon Petrikov, Andrew Rannells as Gary Prince, Donald Glover as Marshall Lee, Kayleigh Mcke as the Scarab, and Sean Rohani as Prismo.
