NCIS: Sydney has just become the most-watched CBS show to premiere on Paramount+, The Wrap reports.
Having premiered on November 14, NCIS: Sydney has managed to draw almost 10 million viewers across both CBS and Paramount+ with a 5.64 viewership during its first run on CBS. In addition, after its successful initial premiere, the broadcast network re-aired the series on November 18 and has accumulated a total of 9.5 million viewers.
In a statement, Paramount+ Australia head Beverley McGarvey expressed her gratitude toward local and international audiences for embracing the show “with its stellar cast and compelling storytelling.”
She added, “We are so appreciative of the opportunity to utilize the world-class NCIS brand to tell quintessentially Australian stories and it has been so productive to work closely with our colleagues at CBS and Paramount+.”
NCIS: Sydney continues the NCIS franchise’s legacy
NCIS: Sydney serves as the first NCIS franchise’s first international spin-off. Following the same premise as its predecessors (NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: Red, NCIS: New Orleans, and NCIS: Hawaiʻi), the show centers on the NCIS and Australian Federal Police (AFP) agents as they team up to investigate crimes.
The show’s official logline reads: “With rising international tensions in the Indo-Pacific, a brilliant and eclectic team of U.S. NCIS agents and the Australian Federal Police (AFP) are grafted into a multinational task force to keep naval crimes in check in the most contested patch of ocean on the planet.”
NCIS: Sydney stars Olivia Swann as NCIS Special Agent-in-Charge Michelle Mackey, Sean Sagar as NCIS Special Agent DeShawn Jackson, Todd Lasance as AFP Second-in-Command JD Dempsey, Tuuli Narkle as AFP Liaison Officer Constable Evie Cooper, Mavournee Hazel as AFP forensic scientist Blue Gleeson, and William McInnes as AFP forensic pathologist Roy “Rosie” Penrose.
