The first teaser trailer has been released for Mary & George, the upcoming historical drama starring Julianne Moore and Nicholas Galitzine. The seven-part limited series arrives in 2024 on Starz in the U.S. and Canada, with Sky Atlantic airing the series in the UK, Ireland, DACH, and Italy.
Moore stars as Mary Villiers, Countess of Buckingham, who aided her beautiful son, George Villiers (Galitzine), into seducing King James I and becoming his lover. The duo became two of the English court’s richest and most influential members.

What to Expect in Mary & George?
“Prepared to stop at nothing and armed with her ruthless political steel, Mary married her way up the ranks, bribed politicians, colluded with criminals and clawed her way into the heart of the Establishment, making it her own,” the official synopsis reads. “Mary & George is an audacious historical psychodrama about a treacherous mother and son who schemed, seduced and killed to conquer the Court of England and the bed of its King.”
The ensemble cast includes Nicola Walker, Niamh Algar, Trine Dyrholm, Sean Gilder, Adrian Rawlins, Mark O’Halloran, Laurie Davidson, Samuel Blenkin, Jacob McCarthy, Tom Victor, Alice Grant, Amelia Gething, Mirren Mack, Rina Mahoney, and Simon Russell Beale.
Mary & George is created and executive produced by D.C. Moore (Killing Eve) based on Benjamin Woolley’s 2017 non-fiction book, The King’s Assassin. Hera Pictures produces the series in association with Sky Studios. Moore, Lisa Marshall, Sam Hoyle, and Oliver Hermanus are executive producers, with Hermanus also serving as the lead director.
Mary & George was originally set to air on AMC in the U.S. However, it will now air on Starz.
