Brian Cox Joined 007: Road to a Million Thinking it Was Next James Bond Movie

When Brian Cox signed up for 007: Road to a Million, he thought it was for a role in the next James Bond movie.

“I thought it was the new James Bond film,” Cox told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show. “So I said, ‘Oh, finally they’re getting me in a James Bond movie.”

Cox quickly learned that 007: Road to a Million was a reality show, and the producers wanted him to host. For the moment, Cox will not be joining the likes of Donald Pleasance, Harold Sakata, Mads Mikkelsen, and Christopher Lee as 007’s next villain.

“For years, I thought I’d love to be a James Bond villain,” Cox said. “It would be really interesting. I thought, ‘This is my moment!’ But it wasn’t.”

What to Expect in 007: Road to a Million?

007: Road to a Million is a reality competition series inspired by the James Bond films. Nine pairs of people will complete James Bond-like challenges to find hidden questions around the world with a chance to win a £1,000,000 prize.

“The Controller (Brian Cox) is the on-screen mastermind behind the game, he dictates where the pairs go, and what they must do and sets their questions. He watches on from the shadows following the pair’s every move, reveling as his often merciless and punishing plans unfold in front of him. In total, The Controller has hidden 10 questions around the world for each pair, who each have a chance of winning £1,000,000,” the official synopsis reads.

“To reach these questions, the pairs face gut-wrenching Bond-inspired challenges which will push their physical strength and mental reserves to the limit.  Each question is worth an increasing amount of money, if answered correctly, they bank the cash and continue to the next question, get it wrong their journey is over.”

James Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson of Eon Productions will executive produce 007: Road to a Million with Gregg Wilson. David Glover, John Douglas, and Dominique Foster of 72 Films will executive produce alongside Barry Poznick of MGM.

007: Road to a Million premieres November 10, 2023, on Prime Video.
