Game of Thrones star Lena Headey shared what would have been the dream ending for her character, Cersei Lannister, in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
Elaborating on her previous remarks about wanting more in the HBO show’s final season: “You start trying to write the story yourself. And [Arya Stark actress Maisie Williams] and I would fantasize about a Cersei and Arya showdown; that she would come back as Jaime. That was our dream. But they made different choices.”
In the same interview, Headey shared she doesn’t miss Game of Thrones: “No. I miss the people,” she clarified. “Because you fall in love with people, and you create these family units. So that takes a little while to go though. There’s a weird grief from those relationships. But I don’t miss it. We did it. We put everything into it. It changed everyone’s f–king world, and we’ll always have it.”
Headey’s upcoming projects
Heady’s interview revolved around promoting The Trap, a psychological drama which is the actress’ directorial debut. The film stars fellow Game of Thrones alum Michelle Fairley as a woman living a life of solitude when she meets a mysterious young drifter, played by James Nelson Joyce. The Trap recently premiered at the Austin Film Festival.
Heady will also return to the sci-genre on the small screen, leading the upcoming MGM+ series Beacon 23, which also stars Stephan James. Debuting on November 12, the story “takes place in the farthest reaches of the Milky Way and follows Aster (Headey), a government agent, and Halan (James), a stoic ex-military man, whose fates become entangled after they find themselves trapped together inside one of many Beacons that serve as a lighthouse for intergalactic travelers,” per the official synopsis.
It continues: “Aster mysteriously finds her way to the lonely Beacon-keeper Halan, and a tense battle of wills unfolds. Halan begins to question whether Aster is friend or foe, as her ability to disguise her agenda and motives could make her a formidable opponent.”
