Due to Yellowstone‘s successful Season 1 broadcast run on CBS, the show will begin airing its second season following the Season 1 finale. Season 2 of Paramount’s hit neo-Western drama will start airing on the broadcast network on Sunday, October 29.
Yellowstone Has Garnered New Legion of Fans Since Its CBS Debut
CBS announced that Season 2 will begin a week after the broadcast of the Season 1 finale on October 22. The first season of Yellowstone, which debuted on Paramount Network in 2018, has amassed over 20 million viewers since its premiere on CBS on September 17 of this year.
Half of the viewers are “new to the series, having not seen a single episode in the past year on either linear or streaming,” according to CBS’ press release. Per Nielsen’s report, the first season has also gathered a total of 5.49 million viewers per episode, making it the most-watched scripted series since the NCIS series finale premiered on the network in May.
Co-created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson, Yellowstone stars Kevin Costner as John Dutton, Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton, Kelly Reilly as Beth Dutton, Wes Bentley as Jamie Dutton, Kelsey Asbille as Monica Long Dutton, Brecken Merrill as Tate Dutton, and Cole Hauser as Rip Wheeler. Costner previously left the show due to scheduling conflicts with Horizon: An American Saga, a film he will direct and lead.
The synopsis for Yellowstone reads: “The series chronicles the Dutton family, led by John Dutton, who controls the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the United States. Amid shifting alliances, unsolved murders, open wounds, and hard-earned respect — the ranch is in constant conflict with those it borders — an expanding town, an Indian reservation, and America’s first national park.”
