As Doom Patrol returns for the second half of its fourth and final season, showrunner Jeremy Carver teased the popular superhero series’ impending end. Speaking with TVLine, Carver promised fans that their beloved characters will be getting a “satisfying ending.” Even though Max had announced the Doom Patrol cancellation following its mid-season 4 finale, Carver admitted that they’ve actually prepared for this outcome while developing Season 4.
“Let’s just say we had a strong-enough feeling going into the season that Season 4 might be our last,” Carver said. “Our No. 1 priority was going out on our terms, with a satisfying ending and — most importantly — character arcs that felt considered, earned and unrushed.”
He continued, “The most difficult gear to shift into was ‘End,.’ We created these characters to live together, struggle together and f–k up together, forever.”
What is Doom Patrol?
Doom Patrol reimagines one of DC’s most beloved groups of superheroes. Part support group, part superhero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of superpowered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them. The series stars Brendan Fraser, Matt Bomer, Diane Guerrero, April Bowlby, Joivan Wade, Michelle Gomez, Skye Roberts, Riley Shanahan, and Matthew Zuk.
“In the series’ gripping final episodes, the Doom Patrol meet old friends and foes as they race to defeat Immortus and get back their longevities,” reads the logline for the final season. “Battling between saving the world and each other, the Doom Patrol are forced to face their deepest fears and decide if they are ready to let go of the past in order to take their future into their own hands… and away from the zombie butts.”
Based on the DC Comics series created by Arnold Drake, Bob Haney, and Bruno Premiani, Doom Patrol is written and created by Supernatural‘s Jeremy Carver. Executive producers are Greg Berlanti, Geoff Johns, Jeremy Carver, and Sarah Schechter.
The latest episode titled “Orqwith Patrol” is now available for streaming on Max.
