The Artful Dodger teaser trailer reveals the eight-episode Australian drama series, which is led by Thomas Brodie-Sangster of The Maze Runner and Game of Thrones.
“An irreverent follow up to Dickens’ Oliver Twist exploring the adult double life of Charles Dickens’ famous prince of thieves,” reads the official synopsis. “Set in 1850’s Australia, in the lively colony of Port Victory, we meet Jack Dawkins, The Artful Dodger, who’s transferred his fast fingers as a pickpocket to the nimble skilled fingers of a surgeon. Dodger’s past returns to haunt him with the arrival of Fagin, luring him back into a world of crime. A greater threat – to Dodger’s heart is Lady Belle, the Governor’s daughter, determined to become the colony’s first female surgeon. From heists to life-and-death surgeries, from soirées to street violence, this is a tale of reinvention, betrayal, redemption, and love with a twist.”

The series premieres November 29 on Hulu in the United States and on Disney+ in Australia.
Along with Brodie-Sangster as Jack Dawkins, David Thewlis (Landscapers, Fargo) stars as Fagin and Maia Mitchell (Good Trouble, The Fosters) plays Lady Belle Fox.
The cast also includes Damon Herriman (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Judy and Punch), Miranda Tapsell (Top End Wedding, The Sapphires), Tim Minchin (Upright, Californication), Susie Porter (Wentworth, Gold), Kym Gyngell (Love Me, Black Snow), Damien Garvey (Nautilus, Jack Irish), and Jessica De Gouw (The Secrets She Keeps, The Drover’s Wife).
