It has been revealed that the Donald Glover-led Star Wars series based on Lando Calrissian — who the actor, comedian, and rapper played in the 2018 movie Solo: A Star Wars Story — will now be a movie instead.
On the Pablo Torre Finds Out podcast, it was revealed by screenwriter Stephen Glover that the Lando series is now being developed as a movie. Lucasfilm later further confirmed the story to Variety, with the outlet also noting that no development or negotiation involving the movie is being done with the Glover brothers until the ongoing strikes are resolved.
“No, the idea right now is to do a movie,” Glover said when asked if the Lando series was no longer a show. “That’s the thing. Right now, because of the strike, it’s kind of like telephone — all the information.”

When was the Donald Glover-led Lando project originally announced?
The Lando Calrissian series was initially announced back at a Disney Investors Day presentation in 2020, with screenwriter Justin Simien (Dear White People) tabbed with developing the series. Since then, however, few details on the series have been made public before it was revealed to now be a movie.
