Mark Margolis Passes Away, Breaking Bad & Scarface Actor was 83

Mark Margolis, who played the fearsome Hector Salamanca in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, has died at the age of 83.

The Hollywood Reporter noted that the actor’s son and Knitting Factory Entertainment CEO Morgan Margolis announced his father’s passing, stating that he died on Thursday, August 3 at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York following a short illness.

Margolis was well-known for playing Hector Salamanca — the intimidating and eventually wheelchair-bound cartel don who clashes with Giancarlo Esposito’s Gus Fring in both Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. He received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a drama series in 2012 for the role.

Outside of the Breaking Bad universe, Margolis played the henchman Alberto in Scarface, Mr. Shickadance in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Gianni Morretti in the television series Person of Interest, Felix Faust in Constantine, and many more roles.

Mark Margolis is survived by his wife Jacqueline, his son Morgan, grandsons Ben, Aidan, and Henry, brother Jerome, and sister-in-law Ann.

ComingSoon sends condolences to Margolis’ family and friends at this time.
