Rap Sh!t has been significantly delayed at Max amid the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. The comedy series, which was originally slated to debut on August 10, will now debut on Thursday, November 9. Deadline reports that the hope is for the writers’ and actors’ strike will be over by then, which would allow the actors to promote the new season.
Rap Sh!t Season 2, which recently released a teaser trailer, will premiere with two episodes. This will be followed by one episode each week until the season finale on December 21.
What’s Coming in Rap Sh!t Season 2
The series follows “two estranged high school friends from Miami, Shawna (Aida Osman) and Mia (KaMillion),” per the official season 2 logline. “They reunite to form a rap group. In their rise to fame, Shawna and Mia find themselves at a pivotal moment in their rap career as they are forced to decide if they will stay true to themselves or conform to the demands of the music industry.”
The cast also includes Jonica Booth as Chastity, RJ Cyler as Lamont, and Daniel Augustin as Maurice.
Rap Sh!t is executive produced by Issa Rae and showrunner Syreeta Singleton, as well as Montrel McKay for HOORAE, Jonathan Berry, Dave Becky for 3 Arts Entertainment, and Jim Kleverweis. Hip-hop duo Yung Miami and JT of City Girls serve as co-executive producers, along with Kevin “Coach K” Lee and Pierre “P” Thomas for Quality Control Films and Sara Rastogi and Jax Clark for HOORAE. Rae’s audio content company Raedio handles music supervision for the series.
