Taylor Sheridan has another hit on his hands for Paramount+ as Special Ops: Lioness is now the steamer’s most-watched global series premiere in its first 24 hours, Deadline reported on Wednesday. The Special Ops: Lioness premiere passes the record set by Halo in March 2022.
The first two episodes premiered on July 23 on Paramount+. Additionally, Paramount Network aired the first episode on July 23 and the second episode on July 30. After three days of delayed viewing, Paramount Global reported Episode 1 scored 6 million viewers across Paramount+ and Paramount Network.
The remaining episodes will premiere exclusively on Paramount+.
What to Expect in Special Ops: Lioness?
“Cruz Manuelos, a rough-around-the-edges but passionate young Marine, is recruited to join the CIA’s Lioness Engagement Team to help bring down a terrorist organization from within,” the official synopsis reads. “Joe, the station chief of the Lioness program, is tasked with training, managing, and leading her female undercover operatives.”
Zoe Saldaña stars as Joe, while Laysla De Oliveira plays Cruz. The remaining ensemble includes Dave Annable, LaMonica Garrett, Jill Wagner, James Jordan, Stephanie Nur, Jonah Wharton, Austin Hébert, Hannah Love, Michael Kelly, Nicole Kidman, and Morgan Freeman.
Sheridan, Saldaña, and Kidman executive produce alongside Jill Wagner, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, David Glasser, and Geyer Kosinski.
Special Ops: Lioness is created by Sheridan, the prolific showrunner behind numerous Paramount series, including Yellowstone, Mayor of Kingstown, 1883, Tulsa King, and 1923. The first three episodes are available to stream on Paramount+. Episode 4 premieres on August 6.
