The Idol creator Sam Levinson has spoken about last night’s season finale of the HBO series and how it affected The Weeknd’s character Tedros.
What did Sam Levinson say about The Idol’s finale?
In a video feature that explored the creation of the season finale, Levinson and a number of the show’s cast and crew members delved into the episode, with the creator saying that Tedros “ends up being the victim.”
“She [Jocelyn] needs to devour those around her to feel like she’s got something to say,” Levinson explained. “We also see how desperate Tedros has become. This pimp from the Midwest who shows up in Beverly Hills ends up being the victim.”

The Idol is co-created by Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye, Reza Fahim, and Euphoria’s Sam Levinson. The ensemble cast features Suzanna Son, Troye Sivan, Jane Adams, Rachel Sennott, Hari Nef, Moses Sumney, Jennie Ruby Jane, Dan Levy, Eli Roth, Ramsey, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and Hank Azaria.
After a splashy premiere at the 76th Cannes Film Festival, The Idol received many negative reviews, with most critics panning the series. The sexual content and overall themes of The Idol have been the driving factors behind the criticism.
Tesfaye, Fahim, and Levinson executive produce alongside Joe Epstein, Ashley Levinson, Nick Hall, Kevin Turen, Aaron Gilbert, and Sara E. White. The Idol is an A24 production.
