During the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Warner Bros. Discovery has announced a new animated series focused on the Teen Titans Go! character Beast Boy.
What is the new Beast Boy series about?
The series, according to the company, will focus on the “standalone adventures of Beast Boy,” and will be directed by Rhys Byfield (Elliott From Earth).
The series will be made up of 10 shorts, and will air on Cartoon Network at some time in the future. While not too much was announced, a still was shown off and Hanna-Barbera VP Sarah Fell said that things had “just started.”
According to a report from Variety on the series, the brief still shown off for the show indicates that the series may not be the same as the more wacky, lighthearted Teen Titans Go, but will have more of “an action edge” to it.
Teen Titans Go! originally premiered in 2013 and was itself based on the superhero team from DC Comics. The show also served as a more comedic spin-off to the original animated Teen Titans series, which was a bit more mature in tone. The series also received a film, Teen Titans Go! To the Movies, that premiered in theaters in 2018.
The series is just one of many that Warner Bros. Discovery has confirmed to be in production during the Annecy festival. The company also gave some updates on the status of the highly anticipated Batman: Caped Crusader, calling it “everything Bruce Timm wanted to do” with the world of Batman, but couldn’t.
