Executive Vice President of Alternative Programming for Warner Bros. Animation Peter Girardi has revealed Bruce Timm‘s approach to the upcoming Prime Video series Batman: Caped Crusader.
What did Peter Girardi say about Bruce Timm & Batman: Caped Crusader?
In an Annecy summary article by Variety, Girardi noted that Batman: Caped Crusader is “everything that Bruce Timm wanted to do” in 1992’s Batman: The Animated Series that he couldn’t do because of its young audience.
“It’s everything that Bruce Timm wanted to do in the original series [the 1992 Batman, the Animated Series] but because it ran on a kid’s channel, he wasn’t able to do it,” Girardi stated. “So this definitely skews older. It’s more of his complete vision.”
Batman: Caped Crusader was first announced back in 2021 and is billed as a more adult animated series focusing on the iconic Batman. The show’s team includes Bruce Timm, J.J. Abrams, and Matt Reeves.
While not much of the plot is known, it’s said to be a reimagining of the character that aims to bring things back to their noir roots and focuses on the earlier years of Batman’s journey through Gotham City as a crimefighter before he befriended Commissioner James Gordon and the GCPD.
