Kim Cattrall to Reprise Sex and the City Role in And Just Like That Cameo

Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall will apparently be appearing in the second season of the follow-up series And Just Like That for a cameo.

Is Kim Cattrall going to be in And Just Like That?

Variety is reporting that Cattrall will appear as Samantha Jones in one scene of Season 2 in which the character, who has moved to London, has a phone conversation with Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw.

The outlet’s sources say that Cattrall filmed the dialogue on March 22 in New York City and that the actress did not see or speak to any other series stars in the process. Sex and the City costume designer Patricia Field apparently dressed the character for the scene.

“The new chapter of the groundbreaking HBO series follows Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte as they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s,” reads the logline.

And Just Like That is written, directed, and executive produced by Michael Patrick King. Executive producers Parker, Davis, Nixon, Julie Rottenberg, Elisa Zuritsky, and John Melfi. The series features the return of Sex and the City vets Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis, who also serve as executive producers.

They are joined by series regulars Sara Ramírez, Sarita Choudhury, Nicole Ari Parker, Karen Pittman, Mario Cantone, David Eigenberg, Evan Handler, Christopher Jackson, Niall Cunningham, Cathy Ang, and Alexa Swinton. Season 2 will include return of franchise alum John Corbett as he reprises his role as Aidan Shaw. Grammy winner Sam Smith will also have a guest-starring appearance in the new installment.

The original Sex and the City series was set and shot in New York City. Nominated for over 50 Emmy Awards and winning seven, the HBO series aired 94 episodes over six seasons. It premiered on June 6, 1998, and concluded on February 22, 2004. It was followed by a Sex and the City movie in 2008, which was followed by Sex and the City 2 in 2010; both were box office successes.
