Freya Allan: Ciri ‘Doubts Herself in Every Way’ in The Witcher Season 3

The highly anticipated third season of Netflix’s The Witcher is almost upon us, and ahead of the show, star Freya Allan says that Ciri will be on an emotional journey in the new season.

In an interview with Netflix ahead of The Witcher Season 3’s release, Allan spoke about Ciri’s mindset in the new season. According to the actress, Ciri will be on an “emotional journey” in Season 3 and will grow up throughout the season.

“It’s a really emotional journey for Ciri and her development,” Allan said. “At the beginning of that season, she still feels like a young teenager and by the end, she does really seem like she’s grown up.”

When it comes to her abilities, Ciri will also continue to grow in that aspect. Allan specifically mentioned that Ciri wants to learn magic, but that she gets frustrated and “feels so hopeless with it” at times.

“Ciri does want to be able to learn the magic. She’s [just] beginning to get frustrated because she feels so hopeless at it,” said Allan. “She doubts herself in every way actually.”

What do we know about The Witcher Season 3?

The Witcher Season 3 Volume 1, which will contain episodes one to five, is set to release on the platform on June 29. After that, Volume 2, which is made up of episodes six to eight, will debut on July 27.

“As monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it,” reads Season 3’s synopsis. “Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where they hope to uncover more about the girl’s untapped powers; instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. They must fight back, put everything on the line – or risk losing each other forever.”

The upcoming third season of The Witcher will be Henry Cavill’s last, as the actor is set to move on from the series, with Liam Hemsworth replacing him in the role of Geralt of Rivia. That being said, Cavill will apparently be receiving a “heroic send-off” in the third season.

Based on the stories and novels by Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher is created and executive produced by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, who also serves as the showrunner. Sean Daniel and Jason Brown of Sean Daniel Company are executive producing, along with Tomek Baginski and Jarek Sawko of Platige Image.
