DC’s planned animated series Creature Commandos has rounded out its cast, with James Gunn confirming a report from Collider that the series will feature a star-studded cast headlined by David Harbour.
Alongside Harbour, Creature Commandos will also feature Indira Varma (Rome), Alan Tudyk (Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story), Maria Bakalova (Bodies Bodies Bodies), Zoë Chao (Strangers), Steve Agee (Peacemaker), and more, including the previously announced Frank Grillo, Sean Gunn, and Viola Davis, who will reprise their roles as Weasel and Amanda Waller from 2021’s The Suicide Squad, respectively.
Creature Commandos is set to premiere in 2024 as one of the first new DC Universe entries by co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran. Just recently, Gunn stated that the show had started production and was almost done with the casting process.
While not too much is known about the series, the roles of the characters have been revealed, with Harbour voicing Eric Frankenstein, a version of the iconic monster. Indira Varma will voice the Bride of Frankenstein, the show’s main character. Grillo will play the role of Rick Flag Sr., the father of Joel Kinnaman’s character from The Suicide Squad. Chao will voice Nina Mazursky, an amphibious scientist. Alongside Weasel, Sean Gunn will also voice the role of G.I. Robot, and Tudyk will play Doctor Phosphorus.
The DC Universe’s first phase, called Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, will feature a multitude of different movies and television shows. A few of the announced projects include Superman: Legacy, a Batman and Robin-focused movie called The Brave and the Bold, a Supergirl movie titled Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, a Swamp Thing film, and multiple TV shows.
